Fireplace Rules

Using the fireplace is a wonderful way to create a cozy ambiance, but it comes with important safety responsibilities. Use of the fireplace is at your own risk. If you are not comfortable or do not have experience with wood-burning fireplaces, please do not use it. The fireplace is for ambiance only and should never be used as a heating source.

  • Never leave the fireplace unattended. Do not leave the room while the fire is burning or while it is cooling down.

  • Keep the safety screen closed at all times. Sparks and cracking wood can ignite carpets or furnishings.

  • Open the flue before lighting. Use the flue handle to ensure it is in the open position before starting a fire.

  • Starting the fire: The fireplace is already set up. Simply light the paper beneath the grate — no extra setup needed.

  • Limit the number of logs. Never burn more than two logs total at any time. Do not add more than one log at a time.

  • Keep flames low. Flames should rise only a few inches above the logs. Do not feed the fire with extra materials.

  • What not to burn: Only the provided logs may be used. Do not burn paper, cardboard, plastics, food, or any other items.

  • Cooling down: Let the fire burn out naturally. Do not pour water into the fireplace — it may damage the structure and create hazards.

Firewood Policy

  • The wood provided in your room is sufficient to create a few hours of safe ambiance.

  • Additional wood is available for purchase at $20 for 5 pieces — ask at the front desk.

  • Bringing in outside firewood is strictly prohibited.

  • Wood size matters for proper airflow and safety — only inn-provided wood ensures a safe burn.

  • Unseasoned or unsuitable wood can create excess smoke, damage the chimney, and pose fire risks.

  • Failure to follow the firewood policy may result in additional charges.
